Get ready, PlayStation fans! IGN is bringing you live coverage of the State of Play broadcast on September 3rd. Tune in starting at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm UK / 3pm CEST / 10pm JST for gameplay reveals, trailers, and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners. We’re also expecting an extended look at Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, the concluding chapter of the remake trilogy.

What to Expect

While we eagerly await the official lineup, speculation is running wild! Our What to Expect From PlayStation’s State of Play September 2026″>rumor mill suggests that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet from Naughty Dog could steal the show. It’s been a while since we last heard about this highly anticipated title, making it a prime candidate for an update during this broadcast.

Beyond Intergalactic, several other PlayStation Studios have been relatively quiet recently. We’re hoping to hear more from Media Molecule (creators of Dreams and LittleBigPlanet) and Bend Studio (Days Gone). Will we finally get a glimpse of Firesprite’s Until Dawn 2 or Haven Studio’s Fairgame? Only time will tell!

Where the Seeds Fall

Cygames announced CygamesEdge, a smaller-scale development effort. Its first game is Where the Seeds Fall, an action adventure game focused on verticality where you need to reach the ground from a great height. It’s due out November 5, 2026.

Rematch Collaboration with Blue Lock

Sloclap announced a Rematch collaboration with Blue Lock, kicking off September 24th. Characters such as Yoichi Isagi, Meguru Bachira, Seishiro Nagi, and Rin Itoshi are included in the crossover.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World received a new look, with a villain voiced by Neil Newbon, the actor who famously played Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance

Ryōzō Tsujimoto appeared on State of Play Japan to go into more detail on upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds expansion, Ascendance. We saw new monsters, including the new Elder Dragon, Gundoraga. Tsujimoto teased more information on that soon.

The Eminence in Shadow: Phantom Echoes

The Eminence in Shadow: Phantom Echoes got its first trailer at State of Play Japan.

Fate/Extra Record

Next up from State of Play Japan was Fate/Extra Record, coming to PS5 and PS4 on January 28, 2027.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3

The first game included in State of Play Japan was Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, due out in 2027. The new trailer is below.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation Release Date and Gameplay

Final Fantasy VII: Revelation ends the remake trilogy on April 8, 2027. State of Play delivered a new trailer and 10 minutes of fresh gameplay footage.

GTA 6 Dualsense Controller

GTA 6 featured in State of Play via a DualSense controller. That Rockstar / PlayStation partnership is certainly putting in work! Two new limited edition DualSense wireless controllers inspired by GTA 6 are in the works: DualSense Wireless Controller – Grand Theft Auto VI Black Limited Edition; and DualSense Wireless Controller – Grand Theft Auto VI White Limited Edition.

Both limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers launch on November 19 priced $84.99 USD/ ¥12,480 (including tax) / €84.99/ £74.99. Pre-orders start September 10 at 10am local time.

Until Dawn 2

Gran Turismo 7 Update

Creator Kazunori Yamauchi hit State of Play to reveal all the details for Gran Turismo 7’s Spec IV Update, releasing by the end of year in two parts (October and December).

Saros Update Zenith

Housemarque’s Saros is getting a free update called Zenith.

PS Plus Updates

Mega Man X: Command Mission, Dino Crisis 2, and the original Ratchet & Clank hit the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog over the course of the rest of 2026. Dino Crisis 2 is certainly an interesting one, amid calls from fans for a brand new sequel in the survival horror series. Launching into Game Catalog is Pigeons at Play’s Mycopunk.

Rhapsody in Scarlet PS5 Pro

We got a new look at Konami’s upcoming RPG Rev.Noir running on PS5 Pro. It’s due out next year.

Three New Indie Games Coming to PlayStation

State of Play introduced three new indie games coming to PlayStation: Hunter’s Moon; Annapurna’s Uncanyon; and Double Fine’s Keeper, which is available on PS5 today following the studio’s independence from Microsoft ownership.

Gundam Rogue Orbit Release Date

Gundam Rogue Orbit got a new trailer, and confirmation of a release date: March 10, 2027.

Final Fantasy Resonance Demo

Square Enix announced a demo for Final Fantasy Resonance, which is out today. The game launches in October.

LEGO PlayStation Confirmed

The LEGO PlayStation that leaked earlier this week”>The LEGO PlayStation was confirmed at State of Play with an official look at the PS1. The nearly 1:1 scale reproduction of the original 1994 console features 1,911 pieces and is due out later this year.

Crimson Desert DLC Announced

Pearl Abyss showed Crimson Desert DLC, called Chartering the Unknown. The trailer showed off plenty of new content and systems, including what looks like a base building mechanic. Why not? Crimson Desert has pretty much every other video game system! There’s also what looks like underwater exploration, Chartering the Unknown comes out October 25, 2026.

Maneater 2 Announced

State of Play delivered the surprise announcement of Maneater 2! It’s due out in 2027.

Metro 2039 PS5 Pro Gameplay and Release Date

4A Games revealed a first look at upcoming shooter Metro 2039 running on PS5 Pro. The game looked fantastic in the footage shown during State of Play, with an impressive level of detail and atmospheric lighting throughout the creepy gameplay. Eventually the shooting starts, and we see the protagonist fight against a number of human enemies in a building. Outside, a storm is brewing, and the player seeks cover before it breaks. We also got a release date reveal: Metro 2039 is out February 4, 2027.

Monster Hunter Wilds Expansion Ascendance

State of Play treated Monster Hunter fans to a look at Wilds expansion Ascendance, due out in 2027.

Ghost of Yotei Most Wanted

Sucker Punch showed off Ghost of Yotei Most Wanted, the upcoming single-player combat-survival roguelike mode included in the Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition, launching on October 1, 2026, for PlayStation 5.

Marvel’s Wolverine

Sony issued one last look at Marvel’s Wolverine, which is out this month exclusively on PS5. The trailer shows Wolverine fighting Trask’s Sentinels as well as co-op gameplay with Sabretooth. The trailer ends with the heroes fighting an enormous Sentinel as they hunt for Trask himself.

Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil

State of Play kicked off with a fresh look at Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie. The clip shown is the much talked about scene in which zombies fall from rooftops onto the street as star Austin Abrams runs for his life.

Cregger also popped up with a message to fans. Cregger’s Resident Evil hits theaters September 18, 2026.
