Netflix just dropped a brand new trailer and confirmed the release date for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, Studio Trigger’s highly anticipated follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2022 anime masterpiece. Revealed at Anime NYC, this announcement has sent shockwaves through the Night City faithful.
A Glimpse into the Darkness
The trailer offers a visceral look at the new characters who will be navigating the treacherous landscape of Night City. We’re introduced to Roman Carax, a young filmmaker obsessed with analog media, who documents the descent of his companions into madness. There’s Weak “King” Kingsley, grappling with the loss of control and seemingly succumbing to cyberpsychosis. Then there’s D, a vengeful netrunner embodying grief and suffering. And finally, Talia Yang, whose hospitalization triggers King’s own internal struggles.
The trailer heavily implies that Edgerunners 2 will be told from Carax’s perspective, offering a unique and potentially unsettling view of the unfolding tragedy.
