Xbox Series X Gets a Green Makeover: Limited Edition 25th Anniversary Console Lands

Microsoft is celebrating a quarter-century of Xbox with a special edition console that’s sure to turn heads – and empty wallets. The limited-edition Xbox Series X 25th Anniversary console boasts a unique design, enhanced storage, and a hefty price tag.

A Blast from the Past (and Future)

The centerpiece of this celebration is the Xbox Series X itself, but it’s been given a striking makeover. The console features a translucent green finish, showcasing its internal components in a way we haven’t seen before. It also sports a prominent “Xbox 25” logo, further emphasizing its special nature. To complete the package, you get a matching translucent green Xbox controller.

Beyond the aesthetics, this console packs an extra 1TB of storage, giving you even more room for your growing game library. While the standard Xbox Series X already offers a generous amount of space, that extra terabyte is always welcome, especially with games continuing to balloon in size.

Halo Included (and a PlayStation First!)

To sweeten the deal, every console comes bundled with a digital download code for Halo: Campaign Evolved. While the game has received mixed reviews, it represents a significant moment as it’s one of the first times the iconic Halo franchise has appeared on a PlayStation platform. This is a nod to Microsoft’s broader strategy of expanding its gaming ecosystem beyond Xbox.

Availability and Price: Be Ready to Pounce

The limited-edition Xbox Series X 25th Anniversary is priced at $900, a significant jump from the standard model’s price. Microsoft is rolling out pre-orders in phases. “Xbox’s most dedicated fans” can snag theirs starting today, August 26th. Everyone else gets their chance on August 27th at 10:00 AM Eastern Time via Xbox or other retailers.

If you manage to secure a pre-order, your console will ship on November 13th. Keep in mind that each customer is limited to purchasing only one unit.

Controller Craving?

For those who just want the controller, pre-orders are currently available starting at $80 and it’s scheduled to launch on October 20th. This gives you a chance to experience that unique translucent green aesthetic without breaking the bank quite as much.

While $900 is a considerable investment, it’s not the most expensive special edition console ever released. That title currently belongs to Sony’s PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition, which retailed for a staggering $1000.
