In a stunning turn of events that’s sending ripples through the Wizarding World, Kit Harington, best known for his iconic role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones, is stepping into the shoes (or rather, the ridiculously flamboyant robes) of Gilderoy Lockhart in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series. This unexpected casting change comes after Nicholas Hoult had to exit the project due to scheduling conflicts.

The news that Hoult had taken the part of the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor“>Hoult was initially cast as Lockhart earlier this month generated considerable buzz. However, according to Deadline“>Deadline, pre-existing commitments made it impossible for him to continue in the role. This led HBO to delve into its history with Game of Thrones talent, ultimately landing on Harington.
Harington’s Familiar Territory: From Eternals to Audible
While Harington is a household name thanks to his portrayal of Jon Snow, his resume boasts an impressive array of roles.
