The legendary Morrowind mod, Tamriel Rebuilt, just got a massive injection of new content with the release of its highly anticipated “Poison Song” expansion. This update finally allows players to immerse themselves in the politics and intrigue of Great House Indoril and join the ranks of the Temple Ordinators, adding incredible depth and replayability to Bethesda’s classic RPG.

A New Chapter for Morrowind

For years, Tamriel Rebuilt has been painstakingly recreating the mainland of Morrowind, expanding upon the game’s original map centered around Vvardenfell. “Poison Song,” teased towards the end of last year, brings players to the Orethan Fields, a previously unexplored region located on the outskirts of Mournhold, the Dunmer capital. This area, home to the settlement of Othrenis and the chapel of Nanaav, offers a stark contrast to the volcanic landscapes typically found in Morrowind. The trailer showcases lush gardens, manicured greenery, and even cherry blossom trees, offering a visually stunning and refreshing change of pace.

Joining Great House Indoril

One of the most exciting additions is the ability to finally join Great House Indoril. The modders have crafted a dedicated questline for this faction, mirroring the scope and depth of the original game’s three joinable houses. As the setup blurb explains, “For centuries, Great House Indoril…served as the rightful hegemons of Morrowind.” However, after the Armistice, the house has become fractured. Players can now help restore Indoril Sandil’s faith and potentially reignite the glory of Great House Indoril.

Becoming an Ordinator

For those seeking a more lawful path, “Poison Song” also introduces quests to join the Temple Ordinators, Morrowind’s iconic golden-masked lawkeepers. There are three distinct orders within the Ordinators: the Order of Doctrine, focused on “[teasing] apart the strands of orthodoxy and heresy,” based in Orethan Fields; the Order of the Watch, concerned with conflicts between Indoril and Hlaalu houses; and the Order of War, preparing players for their eventual confrontation with Dagoth Ur. Each order offers a unique gameplay experience and storyline.

Beyond “Poison Song”

The expansion also revamps the Red Mountain-ravaged Sundered Scar region and updates quests in the Imperial-dominated city of Old Ebonheart, providing even more content for players to explore. As Tamriel Rebuilt dev Sultan of Rum wrote, “Beyond Poison Song, the Tamriel Rebuilt team remains ever busy building further sections of the Morrowind mainland.” The next major expansion, “Wealth Beyond Measure,” will focus on the Hlaalu faction and introduce the metropolis of Kragenmoor. Further down the line, the team plans to tackle a House-Redoran-themed expansion in the northwest region of Morrowind.

If you’re eager to experience the new content in “Poison Song,” Tamriel Rebuilt is now available on both Nexus Mods and GOG. Remember that you’ll need a copy of Morrowind with all its DLCs to install and play the mod.
