[Get ready to brave the fog! A new trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall has dropped, offering a deep dive into its gameplay and subtly confirming how long it will remain a PlayStation 5 exclusive.]
Horror fans, rejoice! A brand-new gameplay trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall has surfaced, giving us an extended look at the first-person perspective horror experience. While the footage itself is captivating, showcasing protagonist Simon Ordell’s exploration of the eerie Shorefront region on the fictional Scottish island of St. Amelia, it also quietly reveals a crucial detail about its release window.
A Glimpse into the Fog
The trailer masterfully sets the atmosphere, with Simon navigating dilapidated houses and apartments, scavenging for items, and inevitably encountering the unsettling creatures lurking within the dense fog. While major plot points are carefully avoided, those seeking a completely unspoiled experience might want to skip this one. For everyone else, dive in below:
PS5 First, Then What?
The most significant revelation lies within the trailer’s closing fine print. While it reiterates Townfall’s status as a PS5 console exclusive, it also confirms that the game will be available on PC “Not available on other consoles until at least 6 months after release date”. This gives us a tentative timeframe for potential Xbox Series X/S and even a possible (though less likely) Nintendo Switch 2 release – potentially around March 2027 or later.
Silent Hill: Townfall is developed by Screen Burn Interactive (formerly No Code) and published by Konami in collaboration with Annapurna Interactive. Its first-person perspective marks a significant departure for the mainline Silent Hill series, offering a fresh take on the familiar horror formula.
[I recently played the opening five hours and really enjoyed what I saw,] but felt – strongly – that there’s a lot more to Townfall than meets the eye. The game is set to release on September 24th on PC and PS5, so mark your calendars!
The Silent Hill Renaissance Continues
The revival of the Silent Hill franchise has been nothing short of spectacular. In 2022, Konami unleashed a torrent of announcements: Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, Silent Hill: Townfall, Silent Hill Ascension, and even a movie adaptation, Return to Silent Hill. The surprise release of Silent Hill Short Message further fueled the excitement.
Series producer Motoi Okamoto emphasized that the key to this renaissance lies in “cherishing” a “strong psychological horror narrative.”
“As long as that remains intact, we feel that we can be more liberal and experimental with what kind of gameplay we take,” Okamoto explained. “So I think that’s very evident in how Silent Hill 2, last year’s Silent Hill F and, of course, Silent Hill: Townfall, are all very different gameplay experiences. We feel that as long as we keep the narrative core intact, there’s very much room to keep the gameplay style changing.”
