The next generation of Xbox is almost here, and it’s not what you might expect. Forget rumors of a new console; Microsoft is celebrating 25 years of Xbox with a special edition that’s turning heads – and emptying wallets.
A Blast from the Past (and a Hit to Your Wallet)
Announced back in June during the Xbox Games Showcase“>Xbox Games Showcase, the “Xbox Series X25” is a translucent green console designed to commemorate this milestone. While the announcement was exciting, one crucial detail was missing: the price. Now, thanks to reliable leaker billbil-kun of Dealabs“>billbil-kun of Dealabs, we finally know what it will cost.
According to the leak, the Xbox Series X25 will retail for €899.99 in Europe, which translates to roughly $899.99 in the United States. That’s a significant jump from the standard Xbox Series X, which currently retails for $799.99 after its own recent price increase. To put it into perspective, that price point puts it squarely in line with what we might expect from a hypothetical PlayStation 5 Pro.
More Than Just a Pretty Face (and a Hefty Price Tag)
The Xbox Series X25 isn’t just about the color; it’s also packed with features. It includes a special edition green controller, which will also be sold separately for $79.99. This controller pays homage to the original Xbox controller with its unique ABXY button color scheme – white on one side, black on the other. Microsoft described the console as “respecting our history, with the power and performance of the Xbox Series X, including 1 TB of storage, and a design that reflects where we’ve been and the community that’s been with us along the way.” As stated in a news release“>news release.
