Get ready to level up your streaming game! IGN is thrilled to invite you to co-stream the 2026 gamescom Awesome Indies showcase and gamescom Studio, powered by IGN. This is an incredible opportunity to connect with your community and share in the excitement of discovering the next generation of indie hits and engaging content from leading event partners. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone involved – especially the talented developers showcasing their creations – we’ve put together these essential guidelines.
Respecting the Broadcast: Key Guidelines for Co-Streamers
While IGN doesn’t grant explicit commercial rights to third parties, we want to foster a collaborative environment. Therefore, we won’t issue copyright strikes or DMCA takedowns against channels that have been pre-approved by the IGN team, provided they strictly adhere to the following guidelines:
Content & Age Ratings: Know Your Audience
The Awesome Indies showcase features approximately 40 diverse games, and gamescom Studio offers content from numerous event partners. It’s crucial to remember that some of this content may be intended for mature audiences (ESRB M / PEGI 18). You are solely responsible for ensuring your stream complies with your platform’s Terms of Service and all applicable local laws regarding age-rated content. This includes implementing appropriate warnings or filters as needed.
Editorial Control: Your Voice, Your Commentary
You retain full editorial control over your commentary during the co-stream. IGN is not responsible for the opinions, views, or statements you express. Feel free to share your insights and engage with your audience in a way that reflects your unique style.
Feed Integrity & Visuals: Keeping it Clean
To maintain the integrity of the broadcast, you must stream the show live and uninterrupted. You are not permitted to obscure, crop, or modify the core broadcast feed. All in-stream sponsor logos, developer watermarks, lower-thirds, and legal disclaimers must remain fully visible at all times. Your webcam and personal stream overlays are allowed, but ensure they don’t block critical on-screen information.
Monetization & Sponsorships: Staying Transparent
You can keep standard platform monetization features enabled during the broadcast (e.g., Twitch Subscriptions, Bits, YouTube Super Chats, standard ad rolls). However, you may not sell custom sponsorships, run branded overlays, or feature third-party product integrations that could create the impression that your personal sponsors are affiliated with IGN, gamescom, gamescom event partners, or any featured indie developers. Transparency is key!
VODs and Archiving: Respecting Creators
Do not upload standalone, unedited trailers from the showcase as separate videos on your channel. If you wish to create recap videos, they must feature your own substantial transformative commentary. This ensures that creators receive proper recognition for their work.
Enforcement: Playing by the Rules
IGN reserves the right to revoke your approved co-streaming status at any time. If you violate these guidelines, platform Terms of Service, or engage in behavior that is racist, homophobic, defamatory, or otherwise violates community standards, IGN may issue a DMCA takedown notice against your channel. Let’s work together to create a positive and respectful environment for everyone involved!
