Get ready to dive back into the paranatural world of Control, but hold off on cracking open that physical copy just yet. Remedy Entertainment has announced a last-minute delay for the physical editions of Control Resonant, pushing its release date back to October 15th.

Digital Launch Remains Untouched

While fans eagerly anticipating a tangible version will need to exercise a bit more patience, the digital launch remains on track. Control Resonant will still be available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on September 24th. “Get ready to unleash Dylan Faden’s paranatural abilities in warped Manhattan on September 24,” Remedy stated earlier today via their official social media channels. “We need just a little more time to deliver the physical version to you, but rest assured – nothing stays contained forever.”

The delay might seem inconvenient for those who prefer a physical copy, but it does offer a silver lining. With September being packed with major releases like Marvel’s Wolverine, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Dune: Awakening, Silent Hill: Townfall, and even Minecraft Dungeons 2, you’ll have plenty to keep you occupied until October. And, of course, there’s still over a month before the monumental arrival of GTA 6 on November 19th.

A Strategic Move by Remedy

The decision to delay the physical release is likely part of a larger strategy for Remedy Entertainment. As CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon told investors earlier this month“>explained, “We position Control Resonant as a must-have day-one purchase while also building Control into a lasting franchise.” This approach aims to solidify the Control series as a cornerstone of Remedy’s future. The company is keen to ensure financial stability following last year’s multiplayer experiment, FBC: Firebreak.

What to Expect from Control Resonant

Despite the delay, early impressions of Control Resonant have been overwhelmingly positive. IGN’s Tom Phillips, after a hands-on preview earlier this year“>detailed look, described it as “more Control, only designed as a melee action game as opposed to physics-driven third person shooter,” adding that “that’s an incredibly potent mix.” The game promises to deliver the signature blend of paranormal intrigue and compelling gameplay that made the original Control such a critical and commercial success.

So, while you might have to wait a little longer to get your hands on the physical copy, all signs point towards Control Resonant being a worthy sequel that expands upon the already rich and fascinating world of the original.
