The “Made By Google 2026” event has concluded, leaving us with a whirlwind of announcements. Trevor Noah and Rick Osterloh closed out the show, while Alex Cooper introduced Jake Webski to discuss switching from an iPhone to a Pixel, highlighting Google’s collaboration with Apple to simplify data transfer on sale right now for $189.
A key feature is the Gemini-powered trainer, designed to help users plan workouts and answer questions. This functionality extends to both the Pixel Watch 5 and the Pixel 11, aiming to minimize distractions. Noah Pressler and athlete Chari Hawkins showcased how the Watch 5’s heart tracking accuracy rivals that of a chest strap.
One of the most impactful announcements was Google’s accessibility feature: using the phone’s camera to read sign language and convert it to text-to-speech. This is a game-changer for inclusivity, although its accuracy remains to be tested in real-world scenarios.
Jöel Yawili discussed Gemini’s capabilities, including voice-to-text functionality. While promising, the potential for overzealous editing raises concerns about losing crucial details. As always, real-world performance may differ from on-stage demonstrations.
Stephanie Scott presented AI features that scan text messages and pull information from other apps to simplify planning. This functionality will also be available on the Pixel Watch. The event showcased promotional clips highlighting the Pixel 11’s AI capabilities, but more detailed information is needed.
DJ Peggy Gou demonstrated “HiLight,” a blinking LED on the back of the phone that alerts users when a favorite contact calls or when Gemini is active. While seemingly simple, it could be a genuinely helpful feature for those who keep their phones face down.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 boast “huge upgrades” to noise cancellation and have a slightly bulkier design. Edward Shi also highlighted the Tensor G6 processor and the Pixel 11 camera, featuring a telephoto lens with an impressive 120x (optical?) zoom and a new “instant night” mode for enhanced low-light performance.
The Google Pixel Watch 5 is available with a special edition band designed in collaboration with Stephen Curry. Isabelle Olsson emphasized the durability of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, rated for 83 million folds and boasting a “nearly impossible” to crack back cover.
The Google Pixel 11 Pro features a thinner camera bar, designed to improve pocketability and reduce wobbling when placed on a surface. The event also showcased the wide range of color options available for the Pixel 11 lineup, each with its own unique name.

He then sat down with Rick Osterloh to discuss the new era of technology focused on ease of use, although the benefits of Gemini’s features remain to be seen.
