One of the biggest hurdles facing Sony right now is navigating the complex web of global trade wars and supply chain disruptions. The insatiable demand for critical components from AI companies has exacerbated a massive shortage of high-tech parts, driving up costs and delaying production timelines. This situation is particularly challenging for 2027, with reports indicating that major PC memory manufacturers are already sold out for the year.
Adding to the financial pressures, Sony previously increased the price of a PS5 console in 2026, with the PS5 Pro now retailing for an eye-watering $900. While there’s been no indication of further price hikes, Microsoft has already cautioned that things are likely to get worse before they improve.
