===Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis – A Bold Reimagining with RPG Elements?===
[Lara Croft is back, and this time she’s bringing a whole new level of depth to the classic adventure.]
Get ready to dust off your Lara Croft cosplay because Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is about to drop! Developed by Flying Wild Hog in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, this isn’t just a simple remaster; it’s a full-blown reimagining of the original Tomb Raider game. And it’s packing some serious RPG elements that are sure to spark conversation among long-time fans.
A Deep Dive into Combat and Progression
The recently released gameplay overview video sheds light on how Legacy of Atlantis is blending classic Tomb Raider action with modern sensibilities. We’re talking about a skill tree, herb brewing for buffs, and a brand new Focus meter that allows Lara to slow down time and pull off some seriously impressive acrobatic maneuvers. This isn’t just about shooting; it’s about strategic character development.
The skill tree, as design director Jason Epps explained, is designed to make players feel more connected to Lara’s power and progression. “When I played the Survivor series and I could suddenly affect and increase Lara’s power in the game, I felt much more engaged,” he said. This sentiment clearly influenced the development of Legacy of Atlantis.
Focus: Slowing Down Time for Epic Moments
The new Focus system is arguably one of the most exciting additions. Game director Raul Siqueira elaborated on its functionality: “The idea behind it is that when you’re doing actions in combat, when you’re taking damage, dealing damage, dodging attacks, you’re building your Focus meter. Focus allows you to slow down time around you and showcase some the things that Lara used to do in 1996. The acrobatic component of Lara Croft is really important for the character, so we wanted to make sure there was a way on the sticks for this to be celebrated.” Imagine pulling off those iconic tomb raiding moves with a bullet-time twist!
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis – Official ‘Combat & Progression’ Overview
While some veteran Tomb Raider fans might have been hoping for a more traditional experience, the addition of these RPG elements is clearly intended to appeal to a broader audience and offer a fresh take on Lara’s origin story. The question remains: will this blend of classic action and modern mechanics resonate with players?
