This weekend at Disney’s D23 fan event, Marvel unveiled the core cast for its upcoming X-Men reboot. Joining Sadie Sink as Jean Grey are Kit Connor as Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm. This young ensemble is poised to redefine what it means to be a mutant in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Speaking at the Disney Worldbuilders panel (as reported by Murphy’s Multiverse“>Murphy’s Multiverse), Feige emphasized the potential for countless stories. “Having 85, almost 90 years of comic book history, there’s so many stories yet to tell,” he said. “And that’s great because the stories that inspired me to want to make these kinds of movies haven’t been told yet. I’m quite excited about doing them.”

Saying Goodbye (and Maybe Hello)
Before the new era fully dawns, we’re bidding farewell to some familiar faces. The upcoming Avengers: Doomsday will see Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, and others reprise their iconic roles from Fox’s X-Men films. As also see Magneto destroy New Jersey“>McKellen himself has hinted, things are about to get explosive.
Whether any of these beloved characters will survive Doomsday remains a mystery, but their appearances offer a bridge between the past and the future. And speaking of the future, Jean Grey has already made her MCU debut in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, setting the stage for even more mutant encounters.
What’s Next on the Marvel Calendar?
Marvel has unveiled its upcoming slate, with Avengers: Doomsday hitting theaters on December 18th. Then, we have a year to wait until Avengers: Secret Wars arrives in December 2027. X-Men then leads a far busier 2028 for Marvel when it arrives on May 5. The Ryan Gosling-starring Ghost Rider follows next on July 28, before Black Panther 3 rounds out the year on December 15.
