The gaming world is buzzing with news that Jennifer English, the talented voice actress behind iconic characters in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, will be stepping down from her role as Gwendolyn in the upcoming title, Tides of Annihilation. But who will take over? Rumors are swirling, and it seems fans have a strong contender: Angela Sant’Albano, best known for her captivating performance as Grace Ashcroft in Resident Evil Requiem.
A New Voice for Gwendolyn
The speculation began after a demo of Tides of Annihilation was showcased at an event in Shanghai. Attendees reported that the protagonist appeared to have undergone a redesign, and more importantly, her voice sounded remarkably similar to Sant’Albano’s. “So Grace Ashcroft is the new voice of Gwendolyn,” one fan excitedly shared online. “Honestly, I’m impressed.”
While neither Sant’Albano nor Eclipse Glow Games, the studio behind Tides of Annihilation, has officially confirmed this casting news, players have uncovered further evidence to support the rumor. Jennifer Prime, the mocap actor for Gwendolyn, seemingly dropped a hint on social media (via an anonymous source), replying “Yep!!! But this time, no more screaming ‘Leon!!!!'” to a fan who claimed that “Grace Ashcroft is her new VA”.
Prime may have gotten her Resident Evil characters slightly confused, as another fan pointed out that yelling “Leon” is more of an Ashley Graham gig. Prime responded with a chuckle, “Yeah, I’m slowly getting through the RE games.” It’s worth noting that Grace Ashcroft does yell “Leon” quite a few times during Requiem, so she’s not entirely wrong.
Regardless of any minor character mix-ups, this seems like a pretty reliable indication that Angela Sant’Albano will indeed be the new voice actress for Gwendolyn in Tides of Annihilation. This is exciting news for fans eager to experience the next chapter in Gwendolyn’s story.
