Ubisoft Reminds Us That All Next

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of the tactical shooter franchise that bears Tom Clancy’s name. In a nod to the milestone, Ubisoft revealed that work is underway on the next major entry in the series and that fans will be invited to contribute to its development through a new insider program. However, the company has yet to disclose any concrete details about the forthcoming game.

In lieu of a brand‑new title, Ubisoft has chosen to revisit a fan‑favorite. The latest patch, now available on consoles and PC, adds a completely new “standalone mission” titled Last Rites, set after the events of the original campaign.

According to Ubisoft, this new mission plunges players into a darker, more oppressive version of the Wildlands world. The Ghosts must infiltrate a region dominated by the fanatical cult Los Penitentes, whose creed revolves around faith, sacrifice, and violent justice. The objective is to track down cult leader La Llorona, navigating treacherous swamps and dense forests where visibility is limited and danger lurks around every corner.

Ubisoft has rolled out a complimentary update that elevates Wildlands on the latest generation of consoles. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S users will benefit from extended rendering ranges, richer lighting, a 4K visual upgrade, and a smooth 60 frames per second experience. In contrast to the industry’s common practice of monetizing post‑launch enhancements, Ubisoft chose to deliver these improvements at no cost, reinforcing its commitment to the community.

Olivier Leonardi, the creative director of Wildlands, reflected on the franchise’s journey: “Ghost Recon owes its current stature to the unwavering enthusiasm, commitment, and input of its community over the last quarter‑century. With Last Rites, we aimed to craft a tribute that stays true to the series’ roots, showcases its unique strengths, and acknowledges the players who have journeyed alongside us.”
