After almost a year and a half on the market, Monster Hunter Wilds remains priced at $70. Capcom has announced an upcoming price reduction, effective next month, though the exact discount remains undisclosed. The timing—just before the Ascendance expansion—suggests a strategic shift.

Capcom clarified on X that they will simplify purchasing choices for both new and veteran players. The company will phase out certain bundle offerings, such as the Deluxe Edition and cosmetic DLC pass, and introduce fresh value bundles effective August 3.

Unveiled during Summer Game Fest, the Ascendance expansion promises aerial adventures through levitating ruins and confrontations with Elder Dragons. While Capcom has only hinted at a 2027 release, enthusiasts speculate it could arrive in early 2027, about two years after the original title debuted.

Historically, Capcom has used price adjustments to boost sales. For instance, the Iceborne expansion launched at $40 while the base game was slashed from $60 to $20. While a $30 price point for Wilds could be optimistic, a $40 reduction paired with a similarly priced expansion could yield a bundled offering around $80. The final figures remain to be confirmed.
