PlayStation Is Shutting Down The PS3 And Vita Stores Next Year

Sony is delivering a wave of unsettling news this morning: the company will halt physical game disc production in 2028 and, for the first time, will close the digital storefronts for both the PlayStation 3 and the Vita next year.

In a formal announcement on the PlayStation Blog—first reported by Game File—Sony confirmed that the PS3 store will cease operations in July 2027 across most regions, with Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua shutting down even earlier, in August of this year. Other Latin American markets and the Middle East are slated to follow in late 2026. The Vita store will be discontinued worldwide in July 2027.
