Nintendo Switch: Dispatch Games DLC Uncensors HR Violations!

Despite the added flexibility, the patch notes clarify that certain elements remain restricted: genitals and explicit audio will continue to be censored on Switch, ensuring the game stays within the console’s content guidelines.

AdHoc’s community update reveals that the Switch edition has been stripped of several content elements because of “hard requirements from Nintendo.” The accompanying post also confirms that the full downloadable content will be omitted entirely in Japan, citing “regional censorship requirements.” We have reached out to AdHoc for further clarification on these Nintendo stipulations and will provide an update as soon as additional details emerge.

In the same community post, AdHoc reiterated the rationale behind the censored Switch launch and issued an apology to fans who felt misled. “Short version: As launch approached, we ran short on time and resources and were surprised to discover that our game would need some level of censorship in all regions, not just the few we had already planned for. Faced with a tough decision, we opted to release a single Switch build that complied with Nintendo’s strictest regional rating. This resulted in a more heavily censored version of Dispatch than Switch players had anticipated.”

The censorship issue was merely one facet of a broader problem.
