EA Sports FC 26 Free for One Week on Nintendo Switch & Switch 2

Nintendo has unveiled a fresh Game Trial, offering EA Sports FC 26 at no cost from June 18 to June 24 in celebration of the World Cup.

During the trial period, players can download and enjoy the game; once the window closes, the title will become unplayable, though all saved progress remains intact.

Although the promotion aligns with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, EA Sports FC 26 does not hold official tournament licensing, a consequence of the earlier dispute between EA and FIFA.

The game currently hosts “The World’s Game” events that mirror the ongoing tournament, yet it never directly references the World Cup.

Nevertheless, it retains official licences for every participating national squad and their authentic kits.

In a bold move to fill the void left by the absence of an EA Sports‑led crossover this year, FIFA has launched its own official World Cup video game, which debuted on Netflix last week.

VGC’s one‑star review slammed the game as “a woefully undercooked effort that really doesn’t do the real thing justice.”

“If this is supposed to be a genuine competitor to EA Sports FC’s league title, it doesn’t even manage to string two passes together at this stage,” the critic added, noting that Netflix hints at future updates that might eventually elevate the experience.

At present, however, the title falls short of expectations for the official World Cup video game, leaving fans disappointed.
