To make Widgets feel less intrusive and more focused, Microsoft is rolling out a new suite of default settings that quiet the experience by default. These adjustments aim to cut down on unexpected pop‑ups and visual clutter, giving users a calmer, more streamlined interaction.
In line with this quieter approach, a subtle yet meaningful visual tweak has been applied to taskbar badging. For users who keep taskbar badges enabled, the badge color will now harmonize with your chosen Windows accent color instead of always appearing red, softening the urgency cue that something needs immediate attention.
To maintain quick access to overlooked notifications, badges are now supported on the icons within the Widget navigation bar, displaying the count of missed alerts for each specific dashboard. These badges automatically clear when you exit a dashboard, simplifying the process of tracking new content. If you prefer a badge‑free experience, a setting allows you to disable them entirely.
Night Light gently warms your display, diminishing blue light that can disrupt sleep patterns. Screen Tint, on the other hand, lowers overall brightness to alleviate eye strain and reduce sensitivity to daylight. While they address distinct concerns—warmth versus intensity—you can activate both simultaneously for a comprehensive visual experience.
Keep in mind that enabling Screen Tint will automatically disable any active color filters, and vice versa. If you rely on color filters for accessibility or visual preferences, you may need to keep Screen Tint turned off.
