Bethesda has just rolled out a fresh patch for the PlayStation 5 version of Starfield, aiming to finally put an end to the persistent crash problems that have plagued the title.
It’s been more than two months since the space‑faring RPG launched on Sony’s flagship console, and while the developer has tackled many of the most glaring performance issues, the team has only now focused on the core crash bug that has been a thorn in the side of players.
Since its April debut, Starfield has repeatedly crashed when players venture out onto planetary surfaces—a problem that has frustrated countless fans eager to explore the game’s expansive alien worlds.
In my own playthrough, the glitch surfaced on numerous occasions, leaving me with no choice but to steer clear of exploration to avoid a sudden shutdown. This workaround is far from ideal for a game that prides itself on deep, immersive planetary adventures.
Patch 1.000.006, now live on the PlayStation 5, is set to finally eliminate the erratic freezing that has plagued Starfield players. The update includes a comprehensive list of fixes aimed at stabilizing gameplay and ensuring smoother sessions.
Are you still enjoying Starfield on your PS5? If you’ve encountered one of these crashes, let us know—share your experience in the comments below and see if the new patch has put an end to the problem.
