Unlike previous years, the conference offered no dedicated segment on iPadOS 27, a move that reflects Apple’s ongoing strategy to harmonize its software ecosystem through feature parity, a streamlined naming convention, and the new Liquid Glass design language that unifies all its operating systems.
iPadOS 27 is slated to arrive later this year, and Apple has already listed the iPad models that will receive the update.
Apple has broadened its beta testing program beyond iPadOS 27, allowing developers to experiment with the latest beta releases of iOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27, and HomePod software 27 on all compatible devices.
The newest iPad update mirrors many of its counterparts, introducing the Liquid Glass slider, significant performance boosts, a refined Flyover experience in Maps, an updated CPU scheduler, and a host of other refinements. During the keynote, Apple highlighted that file browsing and transfers from the iPad to external drives can now be up to five times faster.
Apple also rolled out a suite of new child safety features and Screen Time enhancements, which will be integrated into iPadOS 27. While Siri AI will be supported on iPadOS, the upgraded assistant will not be available in the EU due to Digital Markets Act restrictions.
