As the FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off in the United States later this week, Opera, the well‑known cross‑platform browser, is streamlining match tracking on mobile devices. Today, the company unveiled a refreshed home page for its Android edition.
The revamped interface is described as “more immersive,” offering streamlined access to frequently used browser functions. Users can now personalize Speed Dial icons in round, square, or squircle shapes, enjoy a real‑time weather widget, and launch AI Mode or a private browsing session with a single tap.
Opera has also integrated a dedicated football tracker, enabling fans to follow their favorite teams without leaving the browser. The tracker presents live scores, push notifications, and detailed statistics within a specialized football hub, and users can view line‑ups, match events, and additional insights.
According to a recent Opera survey, 38% of respondents indicated they intend to follow the World Cup 2026 through a web browser. The tournament runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
“By providing football fans with instant access to live scores alongside a more considered design, we’re ensuring they are never more than a tap away from the action, even when they can’t watch live,” said Tim Lesnik, Product Manager at Opera Mobile.
Opera has launched an exciting sweepstakes exclusively for its U.S. users, offering a chance to win a range of high‑profile prizes. Participants can snag tickets to a July match in Miami, Android smartphones, PlayStation 5 consoles, smart TVs, and Amazon vouchers by sharing a post on social media with the hashtag #OperaFandom starting June 12, or by registering directly on Opera’s official website.
Opera will reveal the lucky winners on July 3, adding a countdown element that keeps users returning to the platform for updates.
