Microsoft Unveils Limited-Edition Green Xbox Series X for 25th Anniversary

Microsoft is unveiling a commemorative Xbox Series X to celebrate the console’s 25th anniversary.

The limited‑edition model, slated for a November launch, will feature a generous 1 TB of internal storage and a translucent green chassis that echoes the iconic green edition of the original Xbox.

“For the first time, we’re bringing a translucent design to Xbox Series X, drawing inspiration from the original Xbox and OG Green so many players remember,” said Jason Ronald, Xbox’s next‑generation VP, in a statement.

“The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition respects our history, with the power and performance of the Xbox Series X, including 1 TB of storage, and a design that reflects where we’ve been and the community that’s been with us along the way.”

When the console boots up, its design immediately transports players back to the roots of the Xbox brand. The familiar green “X” lights up, echoing the original startup sequence, while the front of the unit proudly displays the Xbox 25th Anniversary logo alongside other nods to long‑time fans and classic hardware aesthetics.

In addition to the console itself, a limited‑edition green controller will be released, and it can also be purchased separately for those who want the full commemorative experience.

According to Ronald, every element—from the original ABXY color scheme to the timeless green—serves as a homage to the brand’s beginnings. Even the bumpers pay tribute to the black and white buttons that first appeared on the “Duke” controller.

The back case and battery door are fully transparent, allowing players to see the classic XBOX logo in a fresh, modern presentation.
