Capcom has officially confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds will launch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, marking a significant expansion of the popular franchise onto the next generation of Nintendo’s handheld console.
In a statement released on Friday, the publisher announced that development for the Switch 2 version is already underway. Capcom added that additional details, including a formal release date, will be disclosed in due course.
This announcement comes on the heels of the reveal of Wilds’ first expansion, Ascension, during the Summer Game Fest live show, and follows earlier indications that a port to the new Switch hardware was in the works.
The Monster Hunter Wilds expansion is slated for a 2027 launch, with its trailer underscoring the scale of the update by labeling it a “massive expansion.”
The impending arrival of Monster Hunter Wilds on Nintendo Switch 2 is hardly unexpected, given Capcom’s extensive backing for the platform and the enduring popularity of the Monster Hunter series on Nintendo platforms throughout history.
Capcom has already unveiled Street Fighter 6 and Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess for Nintendo Switch 2, and has revealed a lineup of contemporary Resident Evil ports, including the forthcoming Resident Evil Requiem. Additionally, Pragmata and the next Mega Man game are also on the horizon for this platform.
Capcom’s commitment to Nintendo Switch 2 is evident with their latest announcements, expanding their library of games across various genres, from fighting to survival horror and action-adventure.
In an interview with VGC in September, Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem team expressed surprise at how seamlessly the process of porting to Nintendo Switch 2 transpired.
