The gaming studio behind the chilling experience of Martha is Dead has unveiled a captivating gameplay trailer for their upcoming title, When Sirens Fall Silent.
Developed by LKA under the direction of Luca Dalcò, this new project once again immerses players in the enchanting landscapes of Italy. A stark departure from Martha is Dead’s horror setting during World War II, When Sirens Fall Silent promises to deliver a gripping detective thriller set in the tumultuous early ’90s.
“When Sirens Fall Silent places you in the shoes of Mila, a resolute policewoman caught up in a high-profile investigation involving kidnappings and murders,” the official synopsis reveals.
In the unfolding narrative, players are drawn into a web of character interviews, branching conversations, investigative mechanics, and environmental riddles, all designed to peel back the layers of a gripping mystery.
Participants will meticulously gather clues, scrutinize crime scenes and evidence, and conduct in-depth, branching interviews with pivotal figures, all while interpreting subtle body language cues.
The title boasts a rich array of environmental puzzles—ranging from logically grounded challenges to mind-bending enigmas—requiring players to revisit scenes as new insights emerge.
Although set in a distinct world with new characters, the studio regards this title, along with Martha is Dead and its inaugural release, The Town of Light, as part of a unified franchise dubbed Storie Senza Voce—Italian for “Stories Without a Voice.”
In a bid to shed light on often overlooked individuals, the upcoming title “When Sirens Fall Silent” delves into the challenging and profoundly human themes of trauma, addiction, misogyny, and human trafficking. This game promises to be a thought-provoking exploration that will resonate with players long after they’ve completed it.
According to VGC’s review by Martha, Martha is Dead is a game that isn’t for the faint of heart, described as “deeply disturbing”. Yet, it was highly praised for its immersive and shocking narrative that leaves a lasting impression on players. The review also highlighted the game’s absorbing atmosphere, brilliantly realized setting, and haunting soundtrack.
It is worth noting that the PS5 and PS4 versions of the game underwent censorship to eliminate interactivity during certain graphic scenes. Additionally, dialogue was omitted from the final scene of the game. In contrast, the Xbox Series X/S version remained uncensored.
