Unsettling news for those yet to secure a Steam Deck and were planning to do so when it becomes available again, as Valve has announced a substantial price hike for its handheld gaming PC worldwide, including Spain. The increases range from 100 euros to a maximum of 240 euros.
The 512GB Steam Deck OLED will now cost 779 euros, a significant increase of 210 euros from its previous price. Similarly, the 1TB model jumps from 679 euros to 919 euros, representing an additional 240 euros.
Valve attributes this price increase to “rising costs of memory and storage” as well as “global logistical challenges affecting the entire sector”, two issues that have become familiar to many by now, with the memory crisis and escalating transport costs due to oil price hikes following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz being prime examples.
It is worth noting that Valve ceased production of the 256GB LCD model at the end of last year, marking the end of the original lineup of Steam Deck models.
At present, Valve has yet to disclose either the launch date or the price of its highly anticipated Steam Machine. While the company is expected to announce these details soon, the delay has already sparked skepticism among fans regarding the eventual retail cost of the much‑awaited desktop PC.
