CD Projekt has officially confirmed that a third expansion for the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled Songs of the Past, will arrive next year.

Set to launch in 2027, Songs of the Past will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the studio announced on Wednesday. The expansion is being crafted by Fool’s Theory, a studio composed of seasoned veterans who previously contributed to the original game.

Analysis: Releasing a new expansion on next‑generation consoles and PC in 2027 positions CD Projekt to capture both nostalgic fans and new players, while the partnership with Fool’s Theory signals a commitment to maintaining the high quality and depth that defined the original title.

Songs of the Past will return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia for a brand new adventure when it launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC,” the announcement reads.

“CD Projekt Red is co‑developing the expansion with Fool’s Theory, a team comprising industry veterans who worked on The Witcher 3,” the studio added.

CD Projekt has clarified that the highly anticipated expansion, Songs of the Past, will not be unveiled during this week’s anniversary livestream but will instead receive a comprehensive briefing in late summer 2026.

In a candid post on social media, the studio admitted that the original plan was to debut the expansion during Thursday’s REDstreams event. However, an unexpected leak on the RED Launcher prompted an earlier disclosure.

“We originally planned to make this big reveal during our REDstreams tomorrow, but let’s say we found something we didn’t yet expect on RED Launcher,” the studio explained.

The livestream, scheduled for May 28 at 11 a.m. ET / 4 p.m. BST, will celebrate the tenth anniversary of The Witcher 3’s beloved expansion, Blood and Wine.

CD Projekt is currently juggling an ambitious slate of Witcher titles, from the highly anticipated The Witcher 4 to a polished remake of the original game, and even a brand‑new multiplayer experience that will unfold within the same richly detailed universe.

During the summer, the studio unveiled a tech demo for The Witcher 4, showcasing the visual fidelity and gameplay mechanics it envisions for a base‑model PS5 build, while deliberately withholding the full game from public view.
