Amazon Games, Crystal Dynamics, and Flying Wild Hog have unveiled a 30th anniversary teaser trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. The footage debuted for fans at TR30 Derby and MCM London before going online on October 25. TR30 Derby is an unofficial fan celebration held in the city where Core Design created Lara Croft. The original Tomb Raider launched on Sega Saturn in October 1996, with Eidos Interactive publishing the Core Design-developed title in Derby.
A reimagining built from the ground up
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis rebuilds Lara Croft’s first adventure in Unreal Engine 5. The story still follows her hunt for the scattered pieces of the Scion, an ancient artifact, across Peru, Greece, Egypt, and a mysterious island shrouded in myth. The developers describe it as a true reimagining that honors the original while expanding the story with links between Lara’s first adventure and her future. Alix Wilton Regan voices Lara Croft in the new game.
New traversal and combat tools
The teaser is billed as a sneak peek, but the gameplay systems themselves were revealed earlier. Lara gains a grappling hook to climb, leap, and swing across treacherous terrain. She also carries an archaeological scanner, an optional tool that helps her survey her surroundings and find clues. Combat adds a focus meter that fills as Lara deals damage, takes hits, and dodges attacks. Once charged, time slows around her so she can pull off acrobatic moves. Crystal Dynamics detailed Focus in an August developer diary. The game also brings back a skill tree, where artifacts earn skill points for upgrades such as faster fire rate and improved healing, along with crafting. Lara’s dual pistols return, and the developers have said the game can be finished using only them.
Release date and platforms
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is scheduled to launch on February 12, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2, with all versions releasing on the same day. That date was confirmed in June, when the title moved out of its original 2026 window. Pre-orders are now open, with retailers listing the standard edition at $59.99 alongside a Survivor Outfit bonus. An earlier trailer highlighted how the game reworks its Greek levels.
