At the IGN Fall Fan Fest 2026 today, Shudder unveiled a clip from its new crime thriller The Cycle, accompanied by an introduction from star Deborah Ann Woll, who also voices Faye in the upcoming God of War title Laufey.
Woll plays Meg, a forensic anthropologist whose career takes an unexpected turn when her father’s body appears at a crime scene. According to IGN’s Rachel Weber, Head of Editorial Development, the film shifts “from police procedural to true supernatural spookiness in the best possible way,” with Woll noting that even that development is among the least strange events in the movie.
The project has drawn attention from horror author Stephen King, who promoted it on X. “There’s a movie coming on Shudder in October called THE CYCLE. I don’t usually pump up horror movies (unless they are mine, haha), but this is special. Put it on your calendar,” King wrote.

The film is written and directed by Jordan Downey, known for his contribution to the horror anthology series V/H/S/Beyond. He directed “Stork,” a tale involving a police unit investigating cases of missing babies.
The Cycle will be released on Shudder on October 23.
