Tom Cruise attended the MAPPA EXPO, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Japanese animation studio behind Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, as part of the press tour for Digger, the film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
The visit produced widely shared footage of Cruise observing the studio’s animators at work, including a moment in which he faced off against an image of Eren Yeager’s End Titan form from Attack on Titan. Clips of the tour were distributed online and drew a positive response from viewers.

The tour ends with Cruise begging MAPPA character designer Tadashi Hiramatsu to let him return and watch its team work in person.

Cruise’s genuine enthusiasm for the studio’s animators appeared to resonate with audiences. The film Digger has drawn criticism, with reports of people watching it in empty theaters and speculation about a potential loss of around $250 million at the box office.

The MAPPA EXPO marks the studio’s 15th anniversary, bringing together creators associated with its major productions. Cruise’s appearance there generated significant online discussion despite his not being widely seen by the general public in recent film releases.
