At IGN Fall Fan Fest 2026, actors John Cho and Adia sat down with IGN to discuss how they prepared for emotionally demanding roles in Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, the intense drama following hitman Latif (Mahershala Ali) as he grieves his wife while caring for his family and wrestling with his faith.
Cho plays a pastor described as somewhat unhinged, serving as a complicated antagonist whose good intentions are paired with extremist methods. The character stands out for his distinctive look, combining cowboy fashion with gold grills.
It was definitely a collaborative process. I didn’t know what he was gonna look like. This is pretty unique in the work that I’ve done on film where very little was obvious to me on the page.

When I looked in the mirror, I was like, “Okay, that’s not me. That’s definitely not me.”

The film also follows Latif’s daughter Fatiha, who tries to support her father and brother while grieving her mother. Adia revealed she created a diary for her character to deepen her understanding of the role.

I had a journal that I would keep with me… I did a lot of journaling in her voice to pull out what some of her thoughts might be in that moment in time, but even the times before we meet her in the film and after.
Adia
She described the character’s experiences as involving “hormones, puberty, your mother passing, and dealing with all of that.” Adia said that once on set, she had to let go of her preparation work to remain present during filming.

Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother is now in US theaters. IGN gave the film a rating of 8.
Fall Fan Fest featured 90 exclusive reveals across games, movies, TV, comics, and collectibles. It streamed on IGN with game announcements, trailers, exclusive clips, celebrity interviews, and more.
