Blumhouse Productions has partnered with YouTube personality Matthew “MatPat” Patrick to adapt viral indie horror games into films, with bağlantı”>Amanda the Adventurer slated as the first project.
The collaboration was confirmed at New York Comic Con 2026 by representatives from both Blumhouse and MatPat, who said the YouTuber has “a few projects in the works” with the studio.
“I am proud to announce that I’m working with Blumhouse to launch some new movies. I am taking some of my all-time favorite indie games and horror channels from the interwebs and partnering with Blumhouse to bring them to the big screen,” MatPat said at the panel.
The inaugural film will be based on bağlantı”>Amanda the Adventurer, a first-person, puzzle-solving indie horror game in which players unravel an unsettling mystery involving a low-budget animated children’s show of the same name.

MatPat announced that he and Blumhouse are currently in talks with writers and directors, saying they’re “actually moving fast” to get the project made.
“It’s horror with heart. Amanda is this horrifying but tragic character. It asks the question, ‘Can you trust the media being put in front of your kids?'” he said.
This marks another YouTuber-led film venture to make headlines, following Sean “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin’s revelation that he was directing an bağlantı”>animated Bloodborne movie. Earlier this year, YouTube star Mark “Markiplier” Fischbach also drew attention with his self-funded horror film bağlantı”>Iron Lung, based on the indie game of the same name.
Indie horror games have long enjoyed a strong online following, and major studios appear to be taking notice—particularly after the success of Kane Parson’s bağlantı”>Backrooms earlier this year. The film proved such a hit that other creepypasta adaptations were quickly greenlit, including versions of bağlantı”>The Mandela Catalogue, bağlantı”>Siren Head, and even the SCP Foundation.
