PC Gamer traveled to Guildford to interview Peter Molyneux, the creator widely credited as the father of the god game genre, about his final title, Masters of Albion – and revisited one of his most iconic creations along the way.

The reporter, a long-time fan of Molyneux’s work dating back to Theme Park, asked him about Black & White’s titanic animal creatures – the enormous beasts players nurture as gods and wield as instruments of their will. According to PC Gamer, the origin story of how these creatures came to be is one Molyneux recounted with interest.

Molyneux has built a reputation on seemingly boundless creativity, developing some of PC gaming’s most iconic titles including Populous, Theme Park, Dungeon Keeper, Black & White and Fable. Masters of Albion marks his return to the god game genre one final time before he steps away, with the aim of combining many of his greatest hits’ ideas into a single package.
