Understanding the Quest’s Role

The “Exploring Pendola Pass” quest sits at the very beginning of a player’s journey through the Frozen Trail update, functioning as essentially a whistlestop tour of some of the region’s most notable points of interest. Gotten from Celeste, it asks players to visit three specific locations while also destroying 20 Arc enemies along the way. The objective is deliberately forgiving: it does not need to be finished in a single round, allowing operators to chip away at progress while completing other quests such as “Clean Hands” and “Sizing Things Up.” This design makes it an ideal early-game activity for those getting their bearings in Pendola Pass.

The Four Objectives

Players must complete four distinct steps, which can be tackled in any order. The first is simply destroying 20 Arc enemies — a straightforward but somewhat time-consuming task that we won’t dwell on at length. For the remaining three, operators need to search for power inside the control room of the Cielo Sereno Observatory, patch into an antenna atop the tallest tower in the Railyard using a single wire, and search three containers within the Commissary Supermarket.

Fighting the Arc

The enemy-elimination objective is where preparation matters most. We recommend arming yourself with a long-range weapon such as an Anvil or Renegade to pick off Wasps, Hornets, and Fireflies from a safe distance, while steering clear of the newly introduced Bully enemy — one that can quickly ruin your run if confronted up close. Beyond weaponry, make sure you carry at least one wire for the Railyard task, and bring a mobility gadget such as a grappling hook, snaphook, or zipline to tackle both the observatory and tower objectives. Accepting the quest grants players three ziplines, so be sure to take them along.

The Cielo Sereno Observatory

The Cielo Sereno Observatory sits in the northeast corner of Pendola Pass. The quickest route to its control room is via a zipline, grappling hook, or snaphook that gets you onto the roof; alternatively, stairs beneath the building provide access. Drop through any available hole and you’ll find yourself near the south-facing control room on the western side of the structure. Interact with the “inspect the tech” prompt to complete the objective — but avoid doing so while mid-combat, as completing it during a fight will electrocute you for several seconds.

The Railyard Antenna

Next is the Railyard, where you’ll need that wire. Head to the southeastern side of the location and look for a tall tower — on your map it sits directly east of the “Railyard” label and south of the Controlled Receiving Facility. A zipline, grappling hook, or snaphook will get you to the very top, where interacting with the prompt lets you patch into the antenna at the cost of one wire. Once connected, the antenna beeps a few times and the objective is complete.
