Thirty years after Wes Craven’s Scream redefined the slasher genre, Paramount is marking the milestone with a collector’s set that places one of horror cinema’s most chilling props right in buyers’ hands. The studio has unveiled the Scream 30th Anniversary Collector’s Set, an Amazon-exclusive bundle now available for preorder at $119.99 and scheduled to ship on December 15.
The collection pairs the original 1996 film across 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and digital formats with a trove of physical memorabilia designed to resemble the kind of evidence a detective would compile while investigating Ghostface’s killing spree. The centerpiece is a replica of the cordless phone featured in the movie’s now-legendary opening sequence, in which the masked killer terrorizes Drew Barrymore’s character over the line before closing in for the kill.
A Phone That Recalls Horror’s Most Memorable Calls
The blood-stained replica is far from a static display piece. According to the product details, the phone plays back “iconic quotes” from the film, allowing owners to recreate some of the franchise’s most unsettling moments in their own living rooms.

Sitting at $119.99, the bundle positions itself as a premium offering for devoted fans rather than a casual reissue. The Amazon-exclusive nature of the set also makes it a distinctive target for collectors who have already worked through more widely available editions of the film.
A Film That Revived a Weary Genre
By 1996, the slasher movie had become a somewhat played-out formula. Audiences had endured nine Friday the 13th entries, seven A Nightmare on Elm Street films, and six Halloweens, growing so accustomed to the genre’s conventions that they could predict even the order in which characters would meet their ends.
Scream upended those expectations almost instantly upon release. By layering a self-aware, meta commentary onto the familiar structure — letting its characters openly discuss horror movie tropes — it breathed fresh life into a category many had written off. Paired with a likable ensemble cast featuring Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, Skeet Ulrich, and Drew Barrymore, plus the ongoing mystery of Ghostface’s true identity as the body count climbed, it became an instant thrill.
The original film went on to spawn numerous sequels, some more successful than others, while carving itself firmly into the horror canon. It remains widely regarded as one of the best horror movies of the ’90s and a defining entry in the genre.
