NetEase is set to break with its usual seasonal rhythm when Marvel Rivals launches its Season 10.5 midseason update at 7 a.m. EDT on Friday, Oct. 9, bringing a sprawling new player-versus-environment mode called Path to Doomsday alongside a wave of Halloween-themed content and targeted hero balance changes.

The live-service title will drop for maintenance at 5 a.m. EDT the same morning, with servers expected to remain offline for roughly two hours before Season 10.5 goes fully live, according to game update page. Players worldwide can expect their local launch times to shift depending on where they sit on the clock.

For those tracking the rollout across regions, the maintenance window translates to a 4 a.m. PDT start for players along the west coast of North America and a 7 a.m. EDT drop for the east coast. European servers will come back online at 12 p.m. BST in the U.K. and 1 p.m. CEST across western Europe, while Brazilian players can jump in at 8 a.m. BRT. Further east, the update lands at 8 p.m. JST in Japan and closes out the day at 10 p.m. AEDT on Australia’s east coast.

A Midseason Pivot Away From New Heroes

The most notable departure this cycle is what Rivals is choosing not to add: there is no new hero arriving with Season 10.5, leaving Gorr as the sole addition from all of Season 10. Instead, NetEase has doubled down on a single marquee feature designed to give players something structurally different from their standard competitive matches.

The centerpiece is Path to Doomsday, a PvE experience that departs sharply from Rivals’ earlier cooperative offerings by pitting an enormous 50-player coalition against a lone antagonist. That adversary is Thanos himself, and NetEase has promised to recreate some of Avengers: Endgame’s more well-known moments within the mode, leaning into fan-favorite beats from the blockbuster film.

Beyond that headline attraction, the studio is layering in a supporting cast of seasonal content. A dedicated Infinity War 2v2 mode rounds out the new multiplayer options, while Halloween skins arrive for Deadpool, Elsa, and Devil Dino among others. Players will also gain access to a fresh map built specifically for the 18v18 Annihilation mode.

Balancing Changes Land Before the Puzzle Event

The update is not solely about new content; NetEase has also rolled out several hero adjustments aimed at reshaping the Duelist and support meta. Iron Man receives a revamped barrage mechanic that lets his missiles automatically lock onto up to five targets, a change intended to boost his overall damage output.

Phoenix sees a more modest but welcome bump to its damage numbers, addressing longstanding concerns that the character has struggled to keep pace with other Duelist-class options. Jubilee is also getting attention through her Sparking Sprint mobility skill, which now grants a small amount of continuous healing so she can sustain herself for longer during engagements.

For players looking ahead, NetEase has already teased further content down the line: a puzzle-themed mode called Night of Illusions is scheduled to arrive on Oct. 29, extending the seasonal calendar well past the initial Season 10.5 launch and suggesting that the studio’s Halloween push continues through late October.
