PlayStation has unveiled its October lineup of PlayStation Plus free games, giving subscribers access to a trio of downloadable titles as well as seasonal Halloween content. Available from October 6 through November 2, the batch includes F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896, and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, all claimable on PS5 with the third also playable on PS4.
The monthly free games remain one of PlayStation Plus’s most popular subscriber perks, and this month’s selection spans racing, extraction shooter, and co-op action genres. Members at any tier can redeem the titles while they remain in the rotation, after which they will leave the lineup permanently unless re-added later in the year.
A Racing Franchise Returns to the Free Roster
The headline freebie is F1 25, the latest entry in Codemasters’ long-running Formula One simulation. Building on previous releases, the game carries all official teams and drivers from the 2025 F1 season along with a full career mode, My Team 2.0 for single-player campaigns, and the multiplayer mode F1 World, which pits players against a squad of AI-controlled drivers.
The annual series has become a staple treat for racing game fans, and its appearance on PlayStation Plus introduces a broad audience to this year’s grid without requiring an upfront purchase. The title is available exclusively on PS5 as part of the October offering.
Darker Tones With Hunt and Earth Defense Force
For players drawn to higher-stakes multiplayer, Hunt: Showdown 1896 arrives as an unforgiving extraction shooter in which hunters track down bloodthirsty monsters across dangerous terrain. Players race not only against the clock but also against their fellow hunters while pursuing deadly prey, fighting to survive, and using every available tool to escape the game’s treacherous swamps.

Rounding out the trio is Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, which once again places the planet under siege by gigantic, blocky enemies. A crossover featuring heroes from across the EDF franchise, it asks players to assemble a team to take down new threats and save the day. Unlike its PS5-only companions, the title is available on both PS5 and PS4.
Halloween Content Rolls Out Through the Month
Beyond the three full games, PlayStation Plus subscribers can additionally claim free horror-themed in-game item bundles for a variety of titles as Halloween approaches. Seasonal cosmetics will roll out throughout October across popular online games such as Call of Duty: Warzone and Overwatch, with additional drops expected to appear over coming weeks.
Looking Ahead
The three free games remain claimable from October 6 through November 2. Once that window closes, the titles will be removed from PlayStation Plus unless they are re-added in a future month, so subscribers who want to keep permanent access should redeem them before the deadline.
As has been the pattern with previous months’ offerings, PlayStation is expected to announce its next batch of free games well ahead of their release. Members looking to maximize value from their subscription should check the PlayStation Plus store regularly for new redemptions and seasonal content additions throughout October.
