For more than two decades, Marvel Unlimited has stood as the primary destination for readers seeking access to one of comics’ largest digital libraries. This week, Marvel announced that it will retire the app in December 2026 and replace it with a new dedicated Comics app built alongside Webtoon, the South Korea-based digital comics platform now backed by Disney’s expanding media empire.
The transition marks the end of an era for a service that has served as the default home for comic books from Marvel’s vast back catalog. Current subscribers will be able to import their existing libraries and reading history into the new app, though the changeover has already raised concerns among some fans who have grown attached to the long-running service.

A Two-Phase Sunset
Marvel plans to begin “sunset” procedures on December 7, which will be the last day new content is added to Marvel Unlimited. The app itself will then be completely removed from platforms by December 28.
Prior to those dates, Marvel and Webtoon will launch a brand-new Comics app on November 16.
