As anticipation builds for the upcoming film <Marvel Rivals , NetEase and Marvel Games have unveiled what may be its most ambitious collaboration yet. On Oct. 22, the free-to-play superhero shooter will launch “Path to Doomsday – Avengers: Endgame,” a massive PvE experience that pits up to 50 players against the Mad Titan Thanos and his army in the ruins of the Avengers Compound.

The mode represents a significant leap in scale for the game’s cooperative offerings. While Marvel Rivals has previously experimented with PvE content, including a four-player Halloween-themed Zombie Mode, this new event will dwarf those efforts by bringing together an entire community of players to face off against one of cinema’s most formidable villains.

A Battle Fit for the Avengers

The game’s creative director, Guangyun Chen—known within the community as Gaungguang—described how the mode will recreate certain iconic moments from the films. Players will confront Thanos and his minions head-on in a battle that is expected to echo memorable scenes from Endgame, including the villain’s signature “I am inevitable” line.

“We wanted to give players the chance to be part of something bigger than themselves,” Gaungguang implied during the reveal. The scale of the event means fans can finally relive the climactic showdown that defined a generation of superhero cinema, now playable in their own living rooms rather than on the silver screen.

The goal was to recreate the feeling of an all-out war against Thanos—where every player matters and the fate of the universe rests on teamwork.

While Thanos himself is not expected to become a playable character anytime soon, Marvel Rivals has increasingly embraced its roster of villains. The last two additions to the game were The Hood and Gorr the God Butcher, signaling that fans may yet see the Mad Titan join the fight in some capacity.

A Season Full of Surprises

The reveal came during the latest Dev Vision video, which outlined a wealth of content arriving with Season 10.5. Starting Oct. 9, players can dive into the Avengers: Infinity War mode—a versus-versus event where duos draft upgrades for their characters while attempting to snatch opposing teams’ Infinity Stones, each granting powerful abilities.

Halloween fans will have plenty to celebrate as well. On Oct. 15, the game introduces a batch of spooky skins featuring Devil Dino, Elsa, Blade, Deadpool, and others alongside the All Hallows Glow event. Then, on Oct. 29, Rivals adds the Night of Illusions mode, which Gaungguang described as “a thrilling, suspenseful interactive puzzle experience”—an offering unlike anything previously added to the game.

Rounding out the Season 10.5 content is a new map for the 18 versus 18 Annihilation mode: Alchemax Headquarters, providing fresh battlegrounds for competitive players eager to test their skills.

Looking Ahead

Despite the abundance of upcoming content, some players expressed disappointment last month when NetEase announced that Season 10 would feature only one new character, Gorr. For the previous eight seasons—nearly a year and a half—the game delivered a new hero every single month, building tremendous momentum among its community.

That monthly streak has now ended, but with Path to Doomsday, Infinity War mode, Halloween cosmetics, Night of Illusions, and additional maps all arriving throughout the coming weeks, there is ample reason for fans to remain excited about Marvel Rivals’ future. As the countdown to both the new game content and the theatrical release of Avengers: Doomsday continues, one thing is clear: Thanos has never looked so outnumbered.
