Magic: The Gathering’s creative team at Hasbro is expanding its crossover with Sony Animation’s 2025 film Kpop Demon Hunters, confirming additional Secret Lair drops after the franchise proved to be a massive cultural phenomenon. Following the October 12 Corn Maze Superdrop that introduced the “How It’s Done” card set, Magic announced on X (formerly Twitter) via an Oct. 4 post that more content is already in development, noting that fans are demanding additional releases tied to the hit animated movie.
The original Kpop Demon Hunters film became a global sensation upon its Netflix release, breaking all of the streaming service’s records for original programming. The story follows K-pop group Huntr/x as they use their music to protect the world from demons, generating such overwhelming fan enthusiasm that companies rushed to develop tie-ins including Lego sets and McDonald’s meals, which began rolling out in 2026.
A Drop That Barely Scratched the Surface
The latest collaboration arrived through the Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair program, with the “How It’s Done” crossover cards making their debut in the Oct. 12 Corn Maze Superdrop. While those cards had not yet been released at the time of the announcement, Magic was already planning an encore performance for the franchise.
Secret Lair x KPop Demon Hunters: How It’s Done enters the Corn Maze Superdrop on October 12. The crowd’s already chanting for more. Good thing we’ve got more planned! Stay tuned.

The announcement comes as exciting news given that the first drop barely scratched the surface of what makes Kpop Demon Hunters so beloved by fans. The naming convention itself leaves open the possibility of future drops centered on the film’s other hit songs, with “Golden” potentially focusing on multicolor cards and “Takedown” featuring highly aggressive cards.
Tons of Untapped Material
The original “How It’s Done” track offered a humorous version of Swan Song, featuring the hat-wearing demon bird Sussie. However, fans have noted that her goofy giant tiger buddy Derpy has yet to receive a card, and Magic could easily turn Jinu’s pets into new versions of Esior, Wardwing Familiar or Falthis, Shadowcat Familiar.

Given how much the members of Huntr/x love snacking on the couch, collectors have also expressed disappointment that they haven’t received fun food tokens akin to the adorable ones released for The Hobbit. There is simply so much material available that Kpop Demon Hunters arguably deserves its own Commander deck in the mode of the Hatsune Miku Secret Lair deck that launched in August.
Rumi, one of the film’s protagonists, could make a compelling new version of Narci, Fable Singer, with her demonic heritage and desire to protect the world by completing the Golden Honmoon represented in her Abzan (white-black-green) color identity and power based on resolving Sagas. The Saja Boys, the film’s antagonists, could also get their moment in the spotlight with plenty of demons featured in future releases.
A Strategic Shift Toward Fantasy
Magic: The Gathering designers have publicly stated they want to focus more on the fantasy genre with their licensed products like Universes Beyond and Secret Lair. This strategic shift comes after criticism from fans who were unimpressed with sets based on Marvel superheroes and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
As a modern fantasy masterpiece with extremely passionate fans, Kpop Demon Hunters represents a perfect crossover opportunity that Hasbro will likely continue to leverage for future hit releases. The franchise’s blend of music, action, and fantasy elements aligns perfectly with Magic’s creative direction going forward.
