CD Projekt has published an official breakdown of every change bundled into The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, the comprehensive rework of its landmark role-playing game that launches tomorrow, September 29. Issued to media ahead of the release, the detailed list organizes the studio’s extensive updates into four categories—visuals, combat, quality of life, and miscellaneous—giving players a clear picture of what awaits when the title unlocks across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The announcement arrives just before the game’s global launch, with CD Projekt also providing official release times so players can determine exactly when their region is unlocked. Alongside those details, update download sizes have been shared to help owners prepare for the patch in advance of diving back into the Continent as Geralt of Rivia.
A Landmark Reimagining
In its note to the press, CD Projekt emphasized that this represents an unprecedented level of overhaul for a game it has supported since 2015. The studio acknowledged years of incremental development before committing to what it calls the most sweeping set of changes in the title’s history.
“A lot has changed in the gaming world since The Witcher 3 first launched,” CD Projekt said in its note to the media. “We’ve continued to develop and improve the game over the years, with the last major update bringing the title to next-gen consoles. Never before, however, have we introduced so many extensive, far-reaching changes at once — Remastered is the first release of its kind for The Witcher 3.”

The studio added that the overhaul touches every facet of the experience, with special focus on exploration and combat mechanics. Some systems were rebuilt from scratch to serve both newcomers and veterans alike.

“These changes affect every aspect of the game, with particular attention to exploration and combat mechanics. We’ve significantly improved a wide range of gameplay elements. Some features, such as the skill tree, have even been entirely rebuilt to ensure the best possible experience for both new and returning players. Whether this is your first time visiting the Continent or a long-awaited return to the Path, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered was created with you in mind.”

A Deeper Look at the Changes
The visual improvements span the entire map, from the sun-drenched hills of Beauclair to the snow-capped mountains of Skellige. CD Projekt highlighted upgraded textures for environments, NPCs, and monsters, alongside enhanced foliage and reworked lighting, rendering, and ray tracing. On PC, path tracing delivers what the studio calls the most visually stunning version of the game ever made, while PlayStation 5 Pro support leverages PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution to maintain a smooth 60 frames per second with ray tracing enabled.

The combat overhaul reworked the skill tree—the core of character progression—offering new abilities and deeper customization. Combat animations were revamped for greater fluidity, brutal finishers were added, an adaptive camera was introduced, all five witcher signs received refreshed visual effects, and enemy behavior was updated to make encounters with foes like wolves and drowners feel more reactive.
Quality-of-life changes include overhauled movement animations for Geralt and his horse Roach, a reworked Witcher Senses system that reveals clues only when players focus on the right elements, an updated main menu, and transmogrification, which lets weapons and armor adopt new appearances without sacrificing stats.

The miscellaneous category rounds out the package with an expanded photo mode featuring new poses, camera controls, frames, filters, and models; cross-platform mod support via Mod.io; and Bard’s Ballad, a novel accessibility feature designed for players with cognitive limitations that introduces options such as automatic self-healing to better accommodate their needs.
Looking Ahead
The Nintendo Switch 2 version brings its own set of refinements, including motion controls for casting signs, firing the crossbow, throwing bombs, drinking potions, and controlling Roach’s speed. Gyro aiming reportedly offers greater precision in combat, while mouse mode provides an additional control option and touchscreen support enables map navigation, menu browsing, and playthroughs of Gwent.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is available as a free update on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 from September 29. For those preparing to return to Geralt’s world, extensive coverage—including walkthroughs, guides to the game’s many endings, romance options, and locations for gear, places of power, and Gwent cards—remains available online.
