Microsoft has unveiled the Xbox Game Pass September 2026 Wave 2 lineup, a substantial batch of new additions that brings the open-world survival hit Dune: Awakening to subscribers alongside day-one releases for highly anticipated titles Minecraft Dungeons 2 and Gears of War: E-Day. The announcement confirms that premium-tier players will gain early access to several major games this month, while Ultimate and PC subscribers can expect flagship launches on September 29 and October 6 respectively.

The most prominent arrival is Dune: Awakening, the sandy survival RPG developed by Funcom, which lands for Game Pass Premium, PC and Ultimate subscribers on September 22. Players seeking day-one access to two of the year’s biggest releases will find Minecraft Dungeons 2 arriving on September 29 and Gears of War: E-Day following shortly after on October 6, both available immediately to PC and Ultimate members.

A Broad Range of New Additions

Beyond the headline titles, this month’s wave features a diverse spread of genres designed to appeal across different player preferences. Comicbook beat ’em up Marvel Cosmic Invasion, sci-fi puzzler Planet of Lana 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Ninja Gaiden 4 all join Xbox Game Pass Premium, offering subscribers a mix of action and puzzle-solving experiences.

For those who have not yet explored it, Premium subscribers can also play Keeper, which simultaneously launches on PlayStation 5. The broader lineup includes bike-racing party game Ultimate Sheep Raccoon, sci-fi horror Routine, action RPG roguelike Kernel Hearts, dark fairytale Metroidvania Well Dweller and the 2.5D roguelite beat ’em up Mad King Redemption.

99. Conker: Live and Reloaded

When Microsoft acquired Nintendo's second-party darling Rare for $375 million, the possibilities were endless. One of the first games Xbox got from the British studio was Conker: Live and Reloaded, a remake of N64's Conker's Bad Fur Day that added online multiplayer. And while that competitive play was quite fun, thanks in part to the juxtaposition of over-the-top violence and adorable characters on screen, it was the technological level-up from the N64 original that was truly stunning. The action-platformer was now 'fur-shaded,' giving the manes of Conker and his buddies a unique 'next-gen' new look. Ironically, Live and Reloaded was actually more heavily censored than Bad Fur Day, but both campaign and multiplayer were nevertheless a great way to introduce Rare to its new Xbox player base.

Detailed Release Schedule

The complete schedule reveals that most additions roll out across multiple platforms throughout September and into early October. RuneScape: Dragonwilds leads the wave on September 15, followed by a cluster of titles including Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Planet of Lana II, Routine and Ultimate Sheep Raccoon arriving together on September 16.

The lineup continues with Kernel Hearts and Ninja Gaiden 4 on September 17, while Dune: Awakening and Well Dweller both arrive on September 22. Mad King Redemption follows on September 23, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 arrives on September 25, and the wave concludes with Minecraft Dungeons 2 on September 29 and Gears of War: E-Day on October 6.

Microsoft has announced the Xbox Game Pass September 2026 Wave 2 lineup, and it includes Dune Awakening, plus Minecraft Dungeons 2 and Gears of War: E-Day for Ultimate and PC subscribers.

The staggered release dates reflect Microsoft’s strategy of spreading content across the month while giving premium subscribers early access to select titles. Games marked as joining Game Pass Premium alongside their standard platform availability highlight the tiered structure that rewards higher-subscription players with earlier entry points.

98. Top Spin

Believe it or not, there was a time when EA didn't support Xbox Live. And so Microsoft started building its own sports games that would take advantage of its online service, and of those titles, Top Spin was by far the best. It was a tennis sim featuring a career mode full of real-life pros, but what made Top Spin memorable – in addition to its core gameplay being so pitch-perfect, of course – was its online play. You'd create your character, build them up, and take them online, pitting yourself against other players in ranked matches that, if you won, would move you further up the global rankings. It all worked perfectly (and even tied in XSN, if you remember that little experiment), and made Top Spin the best tennis game the Xbox has ever been served up.

Games Departing the Service

As is customary with each wave, several titles are leaving Xbox Game Pass this month. Atomfall, the British-flavored Fallout-inspired survival game, departs on September 30 along with a number of other entries that players may wish to experience before they leave.

The full list of departing games includes Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition, Little Rocket Lab, Sifu, SOPA Tale of the Stolen Potato, Sworn and Terminull Brigade. All are scheduled to leave on September 30 across Cloud, Console and PC platforms.

This rotation between incoming and outgoing titles remains a defining feature of the Game Pass model, ensuring the library continuously evolves while encouraging players to engage with current offerings before they transition out of the service.
