Disney+ is set to release the third season of its Percy Jackson and the Olympians adaptation on November 20, bringing Rick Riordan’s The Titan’s Curse to television with a significant departure from the source material. While the studio has kept details tightly under wraps about what viewers should expect, new revelations confirm that one of the series’ most important characters will receive expanded screen time, reshaping how the story unfolds on screen compared to the novel.

The changes center on Nico di Angelo, a sibling whose importance to the central prophecy remains tied to his parentage. In the book, which is told entirely from Percy Jackson’s perspective, Nico stays behind at Camp Half-Blood while Bianca accompanies Percy and others on their quest. The show plans to break that convention by giving Nico a much more prominent role throughout the season.

A New Point of View for an Old Character

Walker Scobell, who plays Percy himself, revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly that Nico will be “a bigger part of the entire season.” He explained that the narrative will no longer remain confined to Percy’s perspective. “There are a couple times where we get to see what’s going on at camp, and how Nico’s doing,” Scobell said, signaling that audiences will now witness events unfolding back at Camp Half-Blood through Nico’s eyes.

Levi Chrisopulos, who takes on the role of Nico in the series, teased that while the show retains some “solid points of Nico’s personality from the book,” it has also introduced adjustments to the character. Both Scobell and Chrisopulos noted that their characters share a mutual respect rooted in their drives to protect the people they care about—a bond that will set up crucial plot developments in later installments of the franchise.

The di Angelos play a vital role in the central prophecy that also concerns Percy due to their parentage. Bianca will join Percy on his quest to track down Annabeth and the missing goddess Artemis, while Nico’s expanded presence at camp offers viewers a fresh vantage point on events that previously occurred offscreen.

A Star-Studded Cast Returns

Scobell once again leads the show as Percy, alongside returning cast members Aryan Simhadri as Grover and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth. Olive Abercrombie will play Bianca, joining a wave of new divine characters introduced in the third season. The lineup includes Dafne Keen’s Artemis, Kate McKinnon’s Aphrodite, Ming-Na Wen’s Hera, Jennifer Beals’ Demeter, and Hubert Smielecki’s Apollo.

Holt McCallany rounds out the cast by taking on the role of Atlas, serving as the season’s primary antagonist. The addition of such a notable ensemble underscores Disney+’s commitment to bringing Riordan’s rich mythology to life with full-scale production values.

Looking Ahead

The third season places Disney’s adaptation into uncharted territory. While the first two books in Rick Riordan’s series were previously adapted by 20th Century Fox, this marks the first-ever screen adaptation of the third book. It also signals that the end may be near for the franchise, as only five books make up the original series.

Disney has not yet officially renewed the show for a fourth season, leaving fans to speculate about how many more seasons remain. With The Titan’s Curse now diverging from its literary roots through Nico’s expanded role and a shifting narrative perspective, viewers can anticipate a fresh take on beloved material as November 20 approaches.
