Grand Theft Auto VI has received a PEGI 18+ age rating that confirms players will be able to use illegal drugs “at any time,” including carrying cocaine and snorting it directly from their hand. The listing was uploaded to the Pan European Game Information board’s website earlier this week before being quickly removed, but fans captured and shared its contents long enough for the details to spread across gaming media.

The rating adds another layer of maturity to Rockstar Games’ upcoming open-world title, joining strip clubs, violent car-jackings, and murder in a series already known for its adult content. What distinguishes GTA 6 from its predecessors is apparently not just the presence of drugs but their unrestricted availability during gameplay.

A New Level of Drug Mechanics

According to the now-deleted PEGI listing, “Drug use is frequent and prominent with the player being able to partake in drug use with others and to use illegal drugs directly from their inventory.” The description singles out cocaine as a headline feature, noting that players can carry it around and snort it “directly from their hand at any time.”

This represents a notable shift for the franchise. While most GTA stories revolve around drug trafficking in some form, protagonists have traditionally avoided consuming the goods they deal. Previous entries like Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online included optional bongs, but these were confined to player-owned apartments rather than accessible throughout the wider game world.

“There are also strong sexual themes, including nudity, scenes of intercourse and occasional scenes of sexual fetishes. In various night clubs the player can also pay for private dances, during which, the game allows the player to move their hands onto the dancers’ breasts and buttocks.”

Sexual Content Depicted Directly

A separate age rating released earlier in the day suggested that GTA 6 may be the first Grand Theft Auto game to directly depict sex scenes, and the PEGI listing corroborates this claim. The description references nudity, intercourse, and sexual fetishes as part of the title’s mature content.

The listing also details the violence players can expect from Rockstar Games’ sixth numbered entry. According to PEGI, players can “harm all other characters inhabiting the environment” with a “high degree of realism,” with certain weapons causing “greater damage such as detailed decapitation and dismemberment.”

This level of detail aligns with developer comments about GTA 6’s “re-engineered” weather system and enhanced realism across every corner of the game. The series has long featured graphic violence, so these additions are perhaps less surprising than the unrestricted drug mechanics.

Looking Ahead

The removal of the PEGI listing appears to have been a routine precaution rather than an attempt to hide information, as fans had already preserved and distributed its contents. The rating provides one of the most detailed glimpses yet into how Rockstar Games intends to handle mature themes in GTA 6.

Fans continue to await further details about release windows and upcoming features for GTA 6, with each new piece of information adding depth to expectations around the highly anticipated title.
