World of Warcraft: Forever Survey Reveals Proposed New Classes Including Bard, Witch, and Necromancer

Blizzard Entertainment is quietly testing player interest in a slate of new classes for its upcoming World of Warcraft: Forever, according to an in-game survey that surfaced on the Battle.net launcher last week. The poll, which asked participants to weigh in on future additions to the retro spinoff MMO, revealed proposed classes ranging from fan-favorite requests like the Bard and Necromancer to returning specializations such as the Monk and Demon Hunter, with a full launch slated for November 4.

Although Blizzard explicitly instructed respondents not to publicly share the contents of the survey, the full document was quickly leaked online by a community member. The leaked survey detailed eleven proposed classes, each accompanied by a brief description, their designated group role, the type of gear they would wear, and a breakdown of example abilities. The list includes the Monk, Demon Hunter, Tinker, Illusionist, San’layn, Necromancer, Rune Knight, Bard, Warden, Witch, and Death Knight.

A Roster of Long-Requested Classes

Several of the proposed classes have been among the most requested by fans for years, and Blizzard’s conceptual versions appear designed to fit seamlessly into the existing roster. The Tinker, for instance, is described as a class that climbs into its own mech to fight, while the Bard would perform songs to heal and buff allies. These two classes, in particular, consistently surface in discussions about potential new specializations.

The Witch class, meanwhile, is pitched as a ranged damage-dealer and support specialist wearing cloth armor. Among its example abilities is a cauldron that buffs anyone who drinks from it, alongside a ranged attack called “Voidbolt” that drains the caster’s own life force. These details suggest a thoughtful approach to class design, even if the outlines remain brief.

Blizzard’s survey specifically calls out familiar abilities that returning classes like the Demon Hunter and Monk would not have in WoW: Forever, clarifying that Demon Hunters would start at level one rather than level eight as they do in WoW’s Midnight expansion.

Returning classes such as the Demon Hunter and Monk appear closely aligned with their current counterparts in other versions of World of Warcraft. The survey’s attention to these distinctions indicates that Blizzard is carefully considering how to balance nostalgia with fresh content, even as it remains unclear how far the game will diverge from the oldest iteration of the MMO.

Monetization Concerns and Community Reaction

The survey’s appearance comes at a time when players have already demonstrated willingness to spend money on WoW: Forever, with numerous players acquiring the new elf classes during the beta. This has led to speculation that Blizzard may eventually sell additional classes, though many hope they could be unlocked for free through gameplay. Given the company’s recent monetization trends, skepticism remains about whether lucrative options would be offered at no cost.

Notably, the survey already acknowledges that additional classes might arrive considerably more powerful than existing ones, potentially disrupting the throwback experience. This admission raises questions about how Blizzard intends to preserve the retro feel while expanding the roster. The full release on November 4 is expected to shed light on these uncertainties and reveal the future direction of the game.

Looking Ahead

While the class outlines are still in early stages, their considered nature suggests that Blizzard is almost certainly moving toward implementing at least some of these additions, whether before or shortly after the MMO’s November launch. Fans will be watching closely to see which of the eleven proposed classes ultimately make the cut and how they shape the world of WoW: Forever.
