The Division 2’s Echoes of Central Park Lands Two Days Before Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake

Ubisoft has set a new release date for The Division 2, sending its agents into the overgrown, rumor-soaked woods of Central Park on November 3 — a launch that lands just two days before Nintendo’s Nintendo brings The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to the Switch 2 on November 5. Announced Thursday during a dedicated showcase, the expansion The Division 2: Echoes of Central Park marks the first time the iconic New York City landmark becomes a fully explorable location in the series, and it signals a deliberate shift toward horror that Ubisoft has been teasing since the expansion debuted at Gamescom.
While Link prepares to save Hyrule once again, Division agents will be heading into a very different kind of legendary forest. Ubisoft used the showcase to deliver its first substantial gameplay look at the expansion, moving well past the initial announcement to reveal how the campaign unfolds, what new content players can expect, and how the studio is leaning into a darker tone than previous entries in the franchise.
A Legendary Forest, Reimagined as Horror
Central Park has long held a place in the Division universe, but until now it has never been a place players could roam freely. In the original outbreak, the park was used as a mass burial ground, and years later it has transformed into an overgrown, ominous space shrouded in rumors about what might be lurking inside. The DLC begins when the Division intercepts a distress signal coming from deep within the park. Agents are dispatched to investigate, only to find themselves confronting a mysterious new threat — disappearing people, brutal deaths, and increasingly bizarre accounts of what lives in the woods.
According to Ubisoft, the expansion is leaning into horror more heavily than previous Division expansions, framing the narrative around paranoia and the way rumors can curdle into reality. That tonal pivot appears designed to differentiate the experience from the tactical shooter conventions players have come to expect, offering a slower-burning, atmospheric campaign built around dread rather than large-scale firefights.
Central Park has always been a place of mystery in the Division world, and we wanted to finally let players step inside that mystery. Echoes of Central Park is our chance to lean into the fear of the unknown and turn a beloved location into something genuinely unsettling.

The gameplay reveal showcased the park’s overgrown environments and the creeping sense of unease that defines the campaign, with agents navigating dense foliage and abandoned spaces as the true nature of the threat slowly comes into focus.
New Maps, Companions, and Gear
Beyond the horror campaign, the expansion adds meaningful content for players who want to tackle the experience solo or in co-op. Ubisoft is adding the Upper West Side as a new playable map, with the region stretching from Lincoln Square to the Dakota District. Three new companions — Brayleigh Callahan, Elwood Franklin, and Morse Feeney — join the roster to fight alongside agents, while six new skill variants, a new gear set, and the new Exotic weapon, The Ratel, round out the package.
These additions are designed to give players fresh strategic options and new ways to build their loadouts, ensuring the expansion offers value beyond its narrative ambitions. The Ratel, in particular, is expected to draw attention from weapon-focused players looking for a new Exotic to experiment with.
A Risky Timing, a Clear Audience
The scheduling of Echoes of Central Park’s launch is a calculated gamble for Ubisoft. Releasing just two days ahead of an all-time classic getting a major remake could invite comparisons, though the two titles are arguably targeting audiences different enough that both have room to succeed. Zelda: Ocarina of Time has spent decades as a defining entry in one of gaming’s most beloved franchises, while The Division 2 appeals to players seeking persistent, multiplayer-driven action in a modern open-world setting.
Still, the proximity of the two releases is unlikely to go unnoticed by the community, and Ubisoft’s decision to pair a horror-forward expansion with a landmark remake suggests a willingness to take a bold step in the series’ direction.
Looking Ahead
The Division 2: Echoes of Central Park arrives on November 3 across PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, giving players a full week of head start before the Zelda remake debuts on the Switch 2. Ubisoft has not yet announced a release date for the Switch 2 version of the expansion, and no further patch or post-launch roadmap details have been shared as of the showcase.
For now, the focus remains on the campaign itself and the tonal shift Ubisoft is attempting to make with the series. Whether the horror experiment resonates with the Division’s core audience will be one of the more interesting questions of the season, especially as the franchise navigates its place in a market that has just been flooded with one of its most iconic remakes.
