A sequel to a house that debuted all the way back in 2010, it stars a local TV station’s Monster Chiller Horror Theatre host who happens to be a murderous psychopath who escaped from an asylum and took over the station on Halloween. Every room is a scene from a different cheesy old horror or sci-fi flick, with video introductions from H.R. Bloodengutz himself airing on boxy old TVs before each room. Sinners, which nails the environmental design of its settings but underwhelms in almost every other regard, was called the critic’s single biggest disappointment of the night.

At the bottom of the ranking is Stranger Things 5, which the critic calls the least impressive of the franchise’s houses, feeling a little undercooked and lacking the stand-out set piece or show-stopping moment that previous trips to Hawkins had. Evil Dead Burn, ranked second-to-last, is noted for a cool animatronic head at the start but criticized for lacking the personality and humor associated with the franchise.
