Cygames Launches “Edge” Label for Faster, Smaller Game Releases

Following a string of high-profile releases like Umamusume: Pretty Derby and the long-awaited Granblue Fantasy Relink, Cygames is taking a new approach to game development with the launch of its “Cygames Edge” label. This initiative aims to deliver smaller, more focused titles on a regular cadence, breaking away from the lengthy development cycles often associated with their larger projects.

Cygames Edge will focus on smaller teams and leaner production pipelines to achieve this more frequent release schedule.

The inaugural title under the Cygames Edge banner is Where the Seeds Fall, a short, three-hour action-adventure platformer where players descend a giant tree. The game promises replayability through additional modes, including a time trial mode for speedrunners. This approach mirrors similar initiatives by other Japanese developers like GYAAR Studio under Bandai Namco, allowing smaller teams to focus on self-contained projects and hone their skills.

In this case, Cygames is partnering with ZEREO Inc. to develop Where the Seeds Fall. The game was revealed during Sony’s recent State of Play and will be released digitally on Steam, PS5, and Switch 2 on November 5th. This rapid turnaround highlights the commitment to a faster development cycle under the new label.
