GTA 6 Ditching the Annoying Sprint Button: A Welcome Change for Modern Gamers

For years, Grand Theft Auto players have griped about one particular control scheme quirk: the sprint button. Unlike most modern games where a simple stick click gets you moving at top speed, GTA required mashing or holding a face button. Thankfully, it seems Rockstar has finally listened to the community. Grand Theft Auto 6 is officially ditching this outdated mechanic.

A More Intuitive Sprint

As revealed by Italian YouTuber MikeShowSha, players will now simply click the left analog stick to initiate sprinting in GTA 6. This seemingly small change represents a significant improvement, bringing the control scheme more in line with contemporary gaming standards. While some might argue for maintaining legacy controls, offering an option for the old system would be ideal.

Beyond Sprinting: What Else is New?

Of course, the sprint button isn’t the only change coming to Vice City. Other, less-important changes include a massive map that dwarfs even Red Dead Redemption 2’s expansive world, a brand new Criminal Profile system for tracking your in-game activities, the ability to hurl dog poop at unsuspecting pedestrians (because why not?), and a physical fitness system that likely ties into stamina management.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches on November 19th for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, and it’s poised to be one of the biggest entertainment releases in history. With this much-needed control scheme update, GTA 6 is already shaping up to be a must-play title.
